Communication Difficulties

When couples are no longer able to freely talk to each other about what they need in their relationship, they are left feeling dissatisfied and powerless in a partnership that once brought them joy. In counselling, you will develop the ability to communicate with your partner better, and to also understand better what is leading to the communication difficulties for each partner.

Conflict Resolution

If you and your partner are trying to resolve a major disagreement or are struggling with day to day fighting, then counselling can help you understand the reasons behind your anger and frustration and allow you to better understand and listen to each other. Counselling will help you learn how to make joint decisions that you are both satisfied with.

Post-Affair Therapy

When one partner has an affair, the trust and safety in a relationship can break down. Counselling will be an opportunity to hear your partner out in a safe setting and help you make decisions about your future. You will develop a clearer understanding of each of your experiences post-affair. Should you decide to stay together, you will learn to rebuild your feelings of safety and trust in the relationship.

Life Transitions

Changes in your life can often impact your sense of connection to your partner. In therapy together you will be able to explore your unique experiences of a recent life change and create a plan to face the future together; all the while keeping your relationship connection alive.

Pre-Marital & Pre-Commitment Therapy

Before making a lifelong commitment to each other,  it is important to have the opportunity to know each other’s needs and expectations for the relationship. In counselling you will learn about each others strengths, vulnerabilities, views of marriage and ideas about your future. Learning about each other in a deeper way will provide you both with a stronger connection that will serve you well in your lifelong journey together.

New Parenthood

Couples counselling within our specialized program for Perinatal Mental Health & New Parenthood. Discussing the many life changes that arise when becoming parents or navigating parenthood together. Explore communication patterns, birth and pregnancy experiences, adjustment to parenthood, postpartum period, intimacy and connection. Individual support available as well.

Same Sex Couples

Lesbian and gay couples will have a safe space to explore their relationship difficulties. There are also unique issues that LGBTQ couples experience and counselling will provide the opportunity to explore and better understand your relationship from the perspective of both partners.

Re-Learning Inter-Partner Touch
Touch is one of the most fundamental ways to show love and affection to your partner. When couples are having difficulties touching, they feel less connected to their partner and less satisfied with their relationship. In counselling together you and your partner will understand what  is currently blocking the two of you from connecting through touch. You will be able to rekindle intimacy through relearning safe touch.
